Water Saving Devices
Did you know that one cubic metre of water requires 1.2kW of electrical energy to provide and treat it? So saving water is also a key element in combating climate change as well as preserving a growing erratic resource.
Simple water saving devices can be retrofitted to toilet cistens, taps and shower heads.
There are two main types of water saving flush devices. Mecon that is ideal for cisterns with a blank in, Interflush is ideal for those without. Both work by interrupting the vacuum in the syphon system, however the Mecon's default is to give a full flush, whilst the Interflush default is a short flush.
Taps can be fitted with Tapmagics, but they do need a threaded end or a round hole. These are great for use in areas where you are both washing hands and filling sinks, but don't fit if you want hot water and have a distant combi-boiler as the flow rates might not be enough to trigger the flow switch on the boiler and if it does it will take a while to get the water through.
Shower heads - restrictors might cause 'cold feet syndrome' here so best look at aeration heads.
