The Eco Home Centre has a large range of natural paints, varnishes and flooring products designed to provide a healthier and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional products. The Eco Home Centre deal with three main paint and finishes companies - earthBorn, Auro and Osmo. All companies have excellent environmental credentials and produce high quality natural products. We have tried them all and spent a lot of time researching which paints are best and we have come up with these three as the backbone to our paint and wood finish sales.

Auro has a focus on organic raw materials, whereas earthBorn focus on health. Auro have a range of natural emulsions, including a ground breaking Freshair paint, that actually helps to remove pollutants from the air. They also produce excellent products like Mould Eliminator, Mould Stop and Mould-free paint. earthBorn have a niche product of claypaint. This is an excellent type of paint that is extremely matt, hygroscopic, highly breathable, VOC free and thick (you will probably only need one coat of paint). The ProAqua range of stains and eggshell finishes for wood are also remarkable products that are excellent both for interior and exterior use. The earthBorn silicate paint is also a wonderful masonry paint that literally dries to rock. It is amazingly tough but also allows brick and stone work to breathe, thus reducing the age old problem of paint peeling off and looking ugly. Osmo are wood specialists and their products need to be used on bare wood from the start to get the best results, but what results! Polyx Oil for floors is the market leader and rightly so and their focus on natural materials and working with wood rather than against it means that you get products that don't shrink, peel or crack.
